Supportive Services offered at the MBRCC

Look Good…Feel Better: Offered in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. This group is for women who will, or have, gone through some form of treatment. The class is led by locally-trained cosmetologists that are volunteers through the ACS. Each participant receives a make-up/skin care kit valued at $250. The intent is to help women manage treatment-related side effects, and learn how to care for their skin. The class is offered monthly in Mon Co; MBRCC alternates months with Mon Gen. The session (through MBRCC) meets the first Wednesday of each month from 5-7 PM in the ground floor conference room at the Cancer Center. Registration is required. Please contact Patricia Policicchio, at 304-598-4563, or Jessica Markley, at 304-598-4978.

The Survivor’s Club: This is a non-site specific support group that meets the second Wednesday of each month. Patients and their caregivers are welcome to attend this group, which is mostly psycho-educational in nature but also offers support. (A caregiver is any unpaid individual outside the clinic setting who helps cancer survivors cope with their disease.) This group meets the second Wednesday of each month from 6-8 PM in the conference room at the Cancer Center on the ground floor. Please contact Patricia Policicchio, at 304-598-4563, or Jennifer Craddock, at 304-598-4564, for more information.

Caring for the Caregiver:  This is a support group for caregivers of patients whose treatments extend for weeks, and even months. Such caregivers tend to experience some different issues, (especially related to isolation), when compared to others that are able to return home after each treatment. For example, this group would be very beneficial for the caregivers of bone-marrow transplant patients, and for those caregivers of patients receiving daily radiation therapy for 5-6 weeks. This group meets every Monday from 10-11 AM in the ground floor conference room at the Cancer Center. Please contact Jennifer Craddock at 304-598-4564 for more information.
