CCL5 Production in the Breast Tumor Microenvironment

This project aims to determine the cellular source of CCL5 within the breast tumor environment by treating adipose stromal cells and breast tumor cells with the conditioned media of the opposite cell type. In addition to analyzing secretion of CCL5 protein by each cell type, we are measuring intracellular CCL5 mRNA levels using qRT-PCR.

Examining the Prognostic Significance of Select Inflammatory Cytokines Using an Open-Source Genomics Platform

Given high rates of obesity and aggressive breast cancers, it is paramount to understand how adipose tissue supports the tumor microenvironment. We previously found that adipose-derived stem cells cultured with triple-negative tumor cells enhanced the expression of numerous pro-inflammatory cytokines.
