Elena Pugacheva, PhD
Dr. Pugacheva is an Associate Professor in the Department Biochemistry and is the Director of the WVU PDXCF. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the core, project design, user training, and billing oversight. Dr. Pugacheva consults on experimental design, tissue procurement, protocol amendments and purchase of reagents.
Peter Mathers, PhD
Dr. Mathers is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Otolaryngology, Biochemistry, and Ophthalmology. He is the co-Director of the WVU PDXCF and Director of WVU Transgenic Animal Core Facility (TACF). He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the NSG production colony, assistance with project design and billing oversight. Dr. Mathers will consult on experimental design and IACUC protocol amendments, as he also serves as Vice-chair of the WVU IACUC.
Kacey Rhodes, Biological Technician II, BS
Ms. Rhodes is biological technician II dedicated to the PDX Core and will devote 50% effort to the research proposed. She is responsible for PDX production under the supervision of Dr. Pugacheva. She will be able to assist with training techniques, lab animal techniques, animal surgery and animal handling. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the core, performing tissue transplantation, postoperative care, tumor burden assessment and tumor-bearing animal oversight during PDX production, resultant PDX collection, propagation and transfer to Project PIs and the Biospecimen Core for long-term storage, and purchase of reagents.
