Ask the Expert: Where Can I Get Dermal Fillers?

WVU Medicine provider on common areas for filler injections

Dermal fillers are an increasingly popular cosmetic procedure that can enhance and highlight a person's features.

"Filler is popular because it's minimally invasive, comes with little to no downtime for recovery, and can pinpoint specific areas patients want to target," Sarah Cross, PA-C, of WVU Medicine Plastic Surgery.

Keep reading to see some common areas where our experts can administer dermal fillers.

Lips

Fuller lips are a goal for lots of people, and injectable fillers can help achieve that.

"Strategically placed lip filler can really make a difference in someone's look," Cross said. "In addition to adding volume, it can correct asymmetries, address fine lines, and better define your lip shape. Many of my patients want just a little boost or to restore lips that have changed with age; it’s less common for people to ask for super plump lips."

 Around the Nose, Mouth

Nasolabial folds and marionette lines, more commonly called smile or frown lines, often come with age.

"As you get older, lines form from the side of your nose down to your mouth from those repetitive motions and facial expressions," Cross said. "The same thing happens with Marionette lines, those vertical lines that run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin."

Dermal fillers can soften the appearance of these lines and add some youthful rejuvenation to your expression.

Cheeks

Volume loss in the cheeks is another common sign of aging that can create a sullen, tired look.

"Adding filler to your cheeks recreates some natural contour for your face and often has a lifting effect," Cross said. "The increased volume and definition can really refresh your look and make a difference in signs of aging. Cheek filler oftentimes softens nasolabial folds and undereye hollows, too!"

Jawline

Jawline filler can define and enhance the appearance of your jawline, as well as add to your overall facial symmetry.

"This is a popular choice for women who have early signs of jowling, as well as some of our male patients looking to strengthen and restore the jawline area. It can make a difference for many people," Cross said.
